Art is the
Revolution
I came here to color outside the lines. To stand in my feminine power and turn the volume all the way up. My art is the revolution that lives inside of me. And my work is divinely guided by spirit. Each time we co-create together, through collage, the stroke of a paintbrush, or the written word on the page, I am in awe. My art has become a sort of medicine for me, a way for me to alchemize rage but also follow the love. My hope is it will do this for you too. Thank you for being here and now, my friend; let’s rise.

My mother used to tell me when I was a little girl, Little girl, Mariska, you march to the beat of your own drummer.” My sisters used to ask me, “Why can’t you just do what they say?” And I would reply, “I don’t know; I just can’t.”
I used to think this different drum beat was a disadvantage. I thought I was doing it all wrong because I couldn’t/wouldn’t conform to the norms of my Texas patriarchal upbringing. And I was being raised in Austin, the blueberry in the strawberry patch of the misogynistic southern states!
The timeline felt soul-crushing and completely unmanageable. Get good grades so you can get into the University of Texas, join a sorority, and marry well.
Little Shop of Love
In October, here in the high desert, I opened a vibey little gallery in an uber vibey compound at The Tin Shops in 29 Palms, California. My little art portal is nestled among other galleries, and adjacent to The Kitchen in the Desert, a culinary destination that sweetens the deal. In the portal, you will find a curated collection of current works and a smattering of my Pussy Power merch, all waiting to be yours! Come see me!
